![]() ![]() Metal Blade can be tossed at downward angles, making falling a bit safer. Toss one out every so often as a way to mix up your approach, or to force the opponent into uncomfortable situations. They do approximately 1-2% damage, so Villager won't enjoy pocketing it, and from enough of a distance away Mario's cape won't even send the pellets far enough to hit you back.Īgain, don't think of the Metal Blade or Crash Bomb as "spam" moves that you're supposed to throw over and over again. Also keep in mind that most of the time pellets aren't even that worth reflecting. Even if they don't do much damage, they're already so weak that stale-move negation doesn't affect them nearly as much as other attacks, and you can even use it to restore the power of other attacks you may have overused. The main strength of the forward smash is that it goes further the more you charge it, so even if a character reflects it at max range you still have time to react.Īs other people have mentioned, those pellets are meant to be abused profusely: shoot them as often as you can. If they're getting a little too close, run away, or slide at them. His smash attacks are good but very situational, and can be easily punished. Weave in and out of Mega Man range consistently, depending on where the opponent is, and if you have any opportunities to come in and get some bigger hits, such as dash attacks, throws, even the occasional smash attack. This range is roughly the maximum distance of his regular pellets (which go far enough that most characters' regular attacks won't be able to reach and are quick enough to cancel out many other projectiles) to the distance where you can reliably hit the opponent with his slide. The key is to fight at what can sort of be called mid-range, but might be better termed as "Mega Man range." If you fight too up-close however, very few of his attacks combo, and a lot of them leave him vulnerable. When you see that Mega Man has all of these projectile attacks, it's easy to assume that he's supposed to be a long-range, campy, projectile spam character, but he really isn't, and playing like that will put you at a disadvantage.
